Advantages
Stainless and electroformed nickel spray masks are tough enough to handle fine details while withstanding high production rates. These precision masks assure accurate, sharp detailing with crisp, well-defined edges. Relief of .001 to .003 inches is allowed on each surface that requires clearance. A snug-fitting, perfectly conforming mask helps reduce you finishing costs.

Ordering
Our design and engineering consultants will help you determine the best mask style and the number of masks required at no obligation.  We require a sample part, a description of the finish desired, and your production requirements.  Upon approval of the mask design, you'll be asked to provide the appropriate number of zero-defect sample parts, and mask building will begin.

A hand-made wax mold is carefully crafted for each step and/or color in the paint cycle.  Completed was molds are immersed in a bath, and then placed in a tank of nickel for a period of up to five days.  The electroformed mask is then cleaned and hand-cut into a finished, production-ready mask.

Types of Masks
There are four basic mask styles.  Because proper mask design is such an important step in automated finishing,  our consultants will help you determine the optimum style for your particular application.

Cape Type
Used for capping raised designs while spraying surrounding background

Lip Type
Covers the edge of a depressed paint area, or the sidewall of a depressed area which requires painting.

Stencil Type
Used to block spraying of paint areas and where fine lettering or graduations are to be sprayed and cleaned, leaving a coal of paint in the desired areas.

Plug Type
Used to keep paint from entering depressed areas while surrounding background is sprayed.
